NX AI Assistants & Chatbots

NX AI Assistants & Chatbots

Some assistants answer. The good ones also act — and the trustworthy ones ask first.

NX AI chatbots are engineering assistants for the Siemens stack that come in two kinds: knowledge assistants answer questions about your standards, your parts and your processes with cited sources — and action assistants execute work in Siemens NX and Teamcenter: they model, check, author and file, through the same APIs your own tools use. Every action an assistant proposes is shown as a preview and applied only after the engineer confirms it.

The answering kind is mature — we run it in production for NX teams and regulated industries today. This page is mostly about the second kind, because that is where the routine hours actually sit: not in finding the answer, but in doing the fifty clicks that follow it.

CONFIRM GATE ApplyEditDiscard

The confirm gate is the whole philosophy in one UI element. An assistant may propose anything; it applies nothing. The engineer sees the preview, decides, and signs — every action, every time.

Assistants that answer — grounded, cited, in production

Knowledge assistants answer from your own material — design guidelines, norms, past projects, CAD and Teamcenter data — and cite where every answer comes from. We build and run them today; they are documented on their own pages rather than repeated here:

Assistants that act — the six

This is the core of the family: assistants that execute operations, check at modeling time, and author geometry, annotations and documents — through the Vision4NX Connector, NXOpen and Teamcenter SOA. Each one is scoped tightly around a job your designers do every week, and each carries its own preview-and-confirm workflow:

How an assistant reaches into NX and Teamcenter

The action channel is the same for every assistant on this page, and it is deliberately boring: no screen scraping, no macros replaying clicks. The assistant speaks MCP to the Vision4NX Connector, which executes through NXOpen inside your NX session and through Teamcenter SOA on the PLM side — the same supported APIs your own automation tools use. It runs with your license, under your permissions, on-premises where your data must stay.

NX & Teamcenter

Native execution — visible live in your session

On-premises or EU cloud under your control. Model-agnostic: the Connector works with the AI assistants your team already uses — including Claude Code via MCP.

The tool layer underneath is a product in its own right: our Siemens NX MCP server page explains what an MCP server for NX actually is, what exists in 2026, and how we build a gated one on your own NXOpen libraries.

Working in Claude Code? Our Claude NX integration connects Claude Code to the live NX session: the same tool layer and gate, plus Claude Code’s own permission rules, hooks and per-tool approval.

Need more than one assistant? Our agentic CAD for Siemens NX page shows how research, building, checking and coding are split across separate agents that share the same gated tool layer.

Two pages zoom in on single capabilities of the same tool layer: AI CAD modeling in Siemens NX shows which modeling operations the AI runs as editable features, and NX MBD with AI shows which PMI an agent places on the 3D model today.

For drawings, AI 2D drawing creation in Siemens NX shows which drafting operations an agent runs in NX today and how every sheet is checked before an engineer releases it.

What these assistants deliberately don’t do

Nothing is applied without the engineer’s confirmation — no exceptions, no “auto mode”. The assistant proposes; the engineer signs. That is not a temporary safety wheel we plan to remove: in mechanical engineering, the person who releases the model carries the responsibility, and our architecture respects that. Every applied action is undo-safe and written to a log with who confirmed it and when.

They are also not the right tool for high-volume batch work. If the same rule-based job runs over five hundred parts every night, you don’t want a conversation — you want deterministic automation with fixed rules and a fixed result. That discipline has its own page: AI Workflow Automation for Siemens NX. The honest boundary: assistants for the ad-hoc and conversational, deterministic pipelines for the repetitive-at-scale — most customers end up with both, sharing the same NXOpen foundation.

And they don’t replace your CAD methodology. AI takes the routine — the clicks, the lookups, the boilerplate annotations. You keep the design.

from €9,900proof of concept · fixed scope

Every assistant on this page starts as a bounded PoC — one workflow, your parts, your standards, running on your infrastructure. Fixed price per assistant: €9,900 as an NX Sprint or €16,900 as an NX Sprint Plus. You see it working on your own data before any bigger decision.

Frequently asked questions

What is an NX AI chatbot?
An NX AI chatbot is an assistant that engineers use in or alongside Siemens NX, in plain language. Two kinds exist: knowledge assistants answer questions from your own standards, parts and processes with cited sources, and action assistants execute work — modeling operations, model checks, PMI authoring, drawing creation, Teamcenter actions — through NXOpen and Teamcenter SOA, with every action previewed and confirmed by the engineer before it is applied.
What’s the difference between the “answer” and “act” assistants?
Answer assistants are read-only: they search, summarize and cite, and can never touch a model or a PLM record. Act assistants execute: they create features, author annotations, build drawings and file PLM actions — but only through a preview-and-confirm gate. The two share the same grounding in your data; they differ in what they are allowed to do, and the permission model enforces the difference technically, not just by policy.
Can an assistant change my model without asking?
No. Every action is shown as a preview and applied only after the engineer confirms it — there is no auto-apply mode. Applied actions are undo-safe and logged with the confirming user and a timestamp. If you close the preview, nothing has happened to the model.
Where does this run, and which AI models does it use?
The action channel — Vision4NX Connector, NXOpen, Teamcenter SOA — runs on your infrastructure: on-premises or in an EU cloud under your control. The assistant side is model-agnostic: it works with the AI assistants your team already uses, connected via MCP, and with fully local models where the hardware exists. Engineering data does not reach a public AI service unless you explicitly decide it may.
How does this relate to Siemens’ own AI assistants?
They complement each other. Siemens’ assistants are strong on documented, general product knowledge. Our assistants are built on what Siemens cannot see: your house standards, your part history, your custom NXOpen tooling, your Teamcenter configuration — and they act inside your session under your rules. We analysed the overlap honestly in our Teamcenter Copilot review.
What does a PoC cost, and what do I get for it?
Fixed price per assistant, €9,900 as an NX Sprint or €16,900 as an NX Sprint Plus depending on the assistant — each PoC covers one bounded workflow on your parts and standards, running on your infrastructure, with a working preview-and-confirm loop your designers can try themselves. Scope and price are fixed before we start, and rework until acceptance is included.
When is deterministic automation the better choice?
Whenever the same rule-based job runs at volume: nightly drawing generation over part families, batch PMI checks before release, mass model cleanup. For that, fixed rules beat conversation — see AI Workflow Automation for Siemens NX. Assistants earn their keep on the ad-hoc, one-part-at-a-time work that never justified writing a dedicated tool.

Your designers already know what they’d delegate first. Let them say it in a chat window.

Tell us the one job your NX team would hand to an assistant tomorrow — we’ll tell you which of the six fits, what the PoC covers, and where the honest limits are.
